Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking
Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing
The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine
I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

teacup stack
while at the handmade market last weekend I spent some of my time carving out this new linocut of a lovely decorative stack of teacup .
Anyone that knows me is aware that my life wouldn't be complete without cups of strong tea everyday so it seemed like a good subject for a new linocut.
I am so thrill how this one has turned out, it took me a while and a fair amount of fiddling around but it has been well worth the patience involved.
I have just in the last hour posted this print on my esty store
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=39317709

apricot jam labels
just this moment I have lists these lovely little handcrafted jam labels in my etsy store.
I first created and original drawing then I transfer the drawing to the lino then the carving begins.
After I am happy with the carving I then mount it on to a type high piece of MDF and print it using my Adana tabletop press.
when the main image is completely dry I then set the type and lock in in the forme to put the labels through the machine again one at a time to put the letterpress type on them in this case Apricot jam!
I hope you enjoy looking at these and if you are interested like I mentioned they are now available along with lots of other printed products in my etsy store

Ruby Has become quite the little printer actually at the last Woodbridge market she was helping me print my little business tags and when anyone walked past she would stop printing grab a card and say scooossme Lady (rubytalk) would you like a business card ! with a big grin on her face .. now how can anyone say no to an adorable ginning little dot like Ruby when she thrusts a card at you insisting you have one ? She cant wait for the next Market so she can help me again !

As the market is looming thick an fast I thought it was about time I got out of the Christmas holiday rut and finally do some carving there in the photo is a poppy bookplate/labels havent decided yet, these will be printing on the Adana letterpress then I will add some type to them.
The other is a little idea I have been tossing around for a while now, these will be seed packets first I will print the lino the add some letterpress type to them , SEEDS into the little plaque and then things like name, date, spacing and planting instructions to finished them off, well something like that I will work it out as I go I guess like I tend to do with most of my work .
I also have some new greeting card and gift tags in the pipeline as well but there aren't any photos of these just yet I am hoping to print them today and with any luck these will also be for sale at the next couple of market.
I would love to see as many people come to the Handmade Market It truly is a wonderful market and all the stall fees are donated to the Mutaho Children's Foundation - the brainchild of a young, local Hobart woman who seeks to teach sustainability skills to AIDs orphans in Kenya.
So please if you are in Hobart on the 23rd -24th please drop in and say hi

I can completely relate to this right now!
I just thought I would share this fabulous little Doodle from a blog I found called Food & Doodles http://foodanddoodles.blogspot.com/
I am at about the little dude at number 5 there are just time when as an artist/creative soul you just have so many wonderful ideas and plans and they just don't stop and it can make you feel a bit like you are getting over run and over whelmed by it all.
Mind you I wouldn't want to be any other kind of person I like having lots of ideas and plans going on and dreaming of realising a few of them is a wonderful thing.
Dreams are where wonderful things start from!

I love Good news and Suprises!
I received the most wonderful convo on etsy yesterday it was from a lady who is putting a book together for Rockport Publishers in New York City no less! , entitled 1,000 More Greetings.
She found me while looking through all the thousands etsy stores and contacted me to put in a submission pronto if I wanted to be part of the book as the closing dated was NOW !
The book looks to be a very swish publication and a seriously great reference book for paper artist of any kind this one will be from what I can see the 3rd issue of this type, go check them out here Amazon.com: 1,000 Handmade Greetings: Creative Cards and Clever Correspondence (9781592534739): Laura McFadden, Deborah Baskin: Books definitely worth a look.
The books will include everything from cards to invitations to posters and announcements from designed and makers from all over the world .
I am positively thrilled to be asked to contribute.

Shared studio space expressions of Interest
Hi everyone
I have decided it is time for Ruby Victoria letterpress & printmaking to expand and move out of the home and into a studio space this means more room for my bigger machines, room to hold workshops and space for people to visit and experience how print was once done.
This also means that I will have space to offer to other creative people situated in a very high traffic area with the potential for lots of exposure and sales.
I have also got plans to hold a handmade market on the site in the warmer months, hold exhibitions and art sales there are endless possibilities.
I would love to offer this opportunity to others that are looking for studio space and have something unique and handmade to offer.
Right now I am just looking for expressions of interest so if you are looking for a site and you think you might be what I am looking for send me your details, your blog or website if you have one and we can go from there
I look forward to seeing who is out there
kindest regards
