beautiful things

After printing my babushka dolls I have decided it is time to do something different something a little different, something a little loftier and stunning colour wise.
I have always loved peacocks and I was thinking yesterday that a peacock would be an idea subject for my next screen printing project so yesterday in between printing, packing and amusing Ruby Galooby I did this very quick drawing to work from when I wasn't so busy.
I always find it amusing that most of my best design ideas seem to pop up when I am incredible busy and don't have time to think to much about them, in hindsight this is probably a good thing as it make me have to quickly draw thinks out so that I don't forget them and I end up with very spontaneous scrawly drawings that I actually really like .
I would really like to keep the spontaneity of the original drawing in this print so I am going to have to have a bit of a play with how I make the final screen that will pull all the other colours together so it is going to be interesting to see how it all turns out

I would love some feedback on this new project if anyone would like to share

  1. I can relate about getting ideas when you're busy with something else! The peacock in the sketch has a lovely inquiring twist to his head - it would be great to keep a hint of that in the final piece.

  2. It's lovely, Narelle. I can imagine the colours already! I like the simpleness of the design, and the way that the tail is almost symbolised, rather than drawn in detail. I think it will make the colour stand out more. Some feedback: I love the little head feathers of the peacock, and if there were some way of accentuating them I think it might add a nice detail.
    Cheers, Jenny.
