Hi everyone
It has been a while since my last post here I feel a bit guilty for not posting anything but it has been a busy week for me .
Saturday was our second Salamanca Market and It was flippin freezing I came home chilled to the bone and have now got a very very bad chill in my back and I am finding it very hard to get around and debating whether to go see a cyropractor about it .
Other than all this, I have been getting alot of wedding stationery requests of late and I am starting to feel the heat I am still dreaming of a big workshop for my platen but still nothing has eventuated .My job would be so much easier with the Heidelberg as there would be no more handfeeding a press it would be all atoumatic and fast ........oh dream on Narelle! It feel like the only way that I am ever going to get my business to move on is if some rich dude or dudette decides to become my patron as such and I dont see that happening anytime in my life time.
so I just plug along with my little adana, my engraving tools and my lino.
here is a new lino completed this week for a lovely girl named Christie from Victoria, she wanted some thankyou cards for her wedding and she loved the font I had carved out for my LOVE greeting cards.I will print these when my Back recovers, I hope it happens soon as I have another two market in the next couple of weeks and business cards to print and major restocking to get done aaaaaaagh I need my Platen !!
Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking
Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing
The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine
I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

Hi Narelle,
ReplyDeleteWhat is this lovely white stuff you are carving? It seems to hold thin lines very well. I hope you find some space soon for your platen. You deserve it. Get well soon...
hope you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteHope your back gets better quickly.
ReplyDeleteLove the shot with your tool box in the background.
hi jill
ReplyDeleteit is a lino called silkcut,it is actually a light grey colour and it is much easier to carve than the old tan coloured lino .

Ah, the dreams of a rich patron, we artists all need the Medicis to return! Hope the back gets better quickly. I have a piece of that Silkcut lino, haven't used it yet, but delighted to see how well it works.
ReplyDeleteI dont use anything think but silk cut I think it is the best but I guess it is a personal choice there are a few different kinds
