Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking

Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing

The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine

I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

new work finally emerging

At long last I finally found a little bit of time after the school holiday madness to sit and do a bit of drawing for my upcoming exhibition at Cube Art and Design this November, I know I am leaving it a bit late but I have realised I do most of my best work when I am seriously under pressure.

Flame Robin - linocut almost ready to be carved out

It will only be a small show as cube is a little space and I will be sharing it with local ceramicist and friend Julie Hoddy - Magoolie Designs, who also live in Blackmans Bay.

Blue Wren - Linocut block almost ready to be carved out

The exhibition will consist of my new works based on photography of native Tasmania Birds by Nickolay Tilcheff who kindly allowed me to use his stunning photography as reference material for my linocut prints, I will also be displaying my letterpress work I have been making over the past 18 months.
Julie will be exhibition her beautiful porcelain rang of tea light candle holders, drink coaster, jewelery pieces and hopefully her stunning french Bistro range of dining ware.

I will post the dates of the exhibition as it gets a little closer and I hope you all can come along and have a look at some lovely art work and say hello

  5. I think many of us creative types do our best work under pressure of a deadline. Not sure why we do this to ourselves!!
