Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking

Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing

The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine

I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

2 markets in one weekend

thats right we are back at Salamanca Markets again this weekend , praying for nice weather as it is forecast for rains eeep! I am now frantically trying to work out a stall set up in my mind to stop from getting a wet botty and left with only pulp to sell !

I will also this weekend be back at The Market at the Masonic temple here in Hobart
I haven't had a stall here since April so it will be nice to be back there along with some other lovely artists and designer.
So please come along to one or both of these markets this weekend and have a look at what some of Tassies best makers have been up to.

see you there

The beginning of another creative week

Its nice to start the week on a creative note I have been struggling a little lately to get into the groove of being able to sit and think about new work but this morning I got up to find an email from Anthea from spoonful zine saying I wasn't too late to get in a design for the next publication of spoonful.
Each issue
, Anthea the author 0f Spoonful nominate an object that makes them smile, she then invites a handful of artists/designers to interpret the image in anyway they like sewing, baking, painting, drawing, photography anything they like.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Christina for letting me use her beautiful photo on Flickr as a reference you will have a print on its way to you just as soon as it is carved and printed
Wish me luck

lovely stuff in the mail

I just want to share this photo with you I received these lovely goodies in the mail today from my friend and fellow artist Naomie Shepherd from NSW
We have been collaborating on a little project together as a part of her upcoming exhibition in September this year
Anyway as a thank you Naomie offered to send me some golden book as she knew I made envelope out of them and I had offered to do some printing for her for free and wanted to over me something in return but I was really surprise to receive one of Naomies hand painted plushie dolls with a sweet little note of thanks ....I was really touched by this as I never expected anything like this and it is really good to know there can be such kindness shared between two like minded people that have never met in the flesh and only on Facebook

Thank you Naomie you really are a Gem x

It is called Reinventing letterpress by Charlotte Rivers published in the U.K by Rotovision and in the next couple of months will be published again in the U.S.A by Chonicle Books under the title The little Book of Letterpress
If you are interested in buying this book amazon have it stocked already and there is a feature where you can have a little look through a snippet of the book .
