Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking

Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing

The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine

I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

Pick a colour any colour

It always blows my mind the number of colours you have to choose from that you can mix to print with!
I love this Pantone colour mixing chart I could look at it and dream for hours, that's a bit sad really isn't it !

My own little Letterpress resurgence / revolution!

I have been thinking about making these cards for a while now all part of the plan to start my own little Letterpress resurgence /revolution!

They are printed on 100% recycled cotton papers like all my other cards and paper products.
I will have these and many other product available at the Beach Market at Blackmans Bay in August and if I decide that I am brave enough I will offer personalised stationary, birthday and wedding invites, people can order and pay a deposit at the market and pick them up when they have been printed. Or just make an appointment to have a talk about their printing needs at another time.
I don't know what do
you all think out there in blogland????

A lovely Surprise

Got a lovely surprise last night when I logged on to my flikr web page I had received an email from a lady who is the administrator for a website called Schmap.
Email said: I am writing to let you know that one of your photos has been short-listed for inclusion in the eighth edition of our Schmap Hobart Guide, to be published at the end of this month.
Schmap is an International online travel guide and map site where travellers can go and see images of places and things to see and do when the are planning a trip.
They chose the photo I took of all the prints from the Hunter Island Press mini print sale exhibition I was involved in at the long Gallery in Salamanca Art Centre.
I don't get paid for the use of the image but hey who cares people still see my photo and hopefully they will follow the link to my site, So I'm happy for the free publicity, so now I just have to wait and see if I get through the final selection process !

bugger

ok this is the second attempt at this I just deleted the first effort damn it, not sure how but this is me we are talking about so here we go again !
It has been a busy time but it has been great I finally have somewhere to park the platen where I can tinker around on it without having to worry about travelling to far to get to it and I know it is safe.
Our lovely friends Robyn and Andrew lea in Taroona offered the underneath of their house to me I am terribly grateful to them for this as it was getting a bit dire lol So hooray for them!!

I received some lovely mail the last week or so , last week my printers blocks from eBay arrive from Queensland,I love em! see photos! I also got my Prints from the USA today from a printmaking exchange I took part in where all involved print an edition of prints mail them off to one person, they collate them and return to all the artists, I will post a photo once everyone has received their prints as I don't want to ruin the surprise for any of them but I will say the print are lovely and I won't hesitate to take part in another exchange if given the chance.

Today was a day for printing even thought I had Ruby home sick with suspected food poisoning poor little mite, she is nearly back to her ol' self though! so nothing to worry about.
See photos of the baby announcement cards I printed on the adana this afternoon, they are a mix of letterpress type and hand carved linocuts printed on 100% recycled cotton paper, just in time really as the Spring, Blackman's Bay Beach market, it's coming up again at the end of August and I need to really get some demo models done to display for custom/personalised printing .
