Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking

Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing

The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine

I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

printing cards

Ruby enjoyed helping me print cards on the adana today after alot of mucking around and temper tantrum I have worked out the adana doesn't like to print images that fill the chase, this limits what I can do quite a bit as I wanted to print linocuts that are 10x 10 cm approx and it looks like it will only tolerate half that size sigh It looks like I am going to have to upgrade to a platen sooner rather than later if I want to go into business unless I am happy to print small greeting cards and business cards, I don't see myself being satisfied with that for very long!

Message/calling cards

I have been busy today getting things ready for the Blackmans Bay market on the 6th of June. It has been a bit tough still not having the press from England I was hoping to have alot more letterpress printing done by now ,but I have been able to do all my printing at the tafe but there is only a couple of days a week that I can go in and do anything .
The press should be here sometime this week with any luck and I will be able to finally get set up and stuck into it and it also means that I will be able to take the press with me to the market to do demos so people can see what a letterpress printing machine is and how it works !

Hopefully to help them to decided to want to buy something letterpress printed

Two great things in one day

1) sat at the Long Gallery today with the mini print exhibition and I made 4 sales and there were lots of visitors and one interested person that organises concert of classical music and would like Allan to play the piano for them sometime soon .

2) Brian Ritchie came to St Vigils, where Allan is the music teacher and did a talk and a demonstration of the traditional Japanese bamboo flute, it was wonderful and he really had a great re pore with the kids, what a great guy! Thanks Brian if you ever read this!

HOT OFF THE LETTERPRESS

My first saleable items off the letterpress .
I will have these for sale at the coming Blackmans bay beach market on the 6th of June .
I am hoping to have a bit more work done by then more greeting cards, small gift cards, personal calling cards plus many of my original lino cut prints unframed to keep the prices down.

These are the first batch of invitations printed on the Heidelberg platen and the swing tags and little name and contact detail cards printed on the adana 4x5 at tafe yesterday.
It feels really good to be printing again!!
