Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking

Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing

The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine

I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

lastest etsy purchase

I just bought this on Etsy from Belinda of SeventhSphere from Woolongong N.S.W
I suggest checking out her etsy shop, it is lovely and the fabrics she uses are just a nightmare to choose from it took me ages to decide on just one coin purse
I was actually considering buying more than one.

A little Update

Hi everyone
It has been a while since my last post here I feel a bit guilty for not posting anything but it has been a busy week for me .
Saturday was our second Salamanca Market and It was flippin freezing I came home chilled to the bone and have now got a very very bad chill in my back and I am finding it very hard to get around and debating whether to go see a cyropractor about it .
Other than all this, I have been getting alot of wedding stationery requests of late and I am starting to feel the heat I am still dreaming of a big workshop for my platen but still nothing has eventuated .My job would be so much easier with the Heidelberg as there would be no more handfeeding a press it would be all atoumatic and fast ........oh dream on Narelle! It feel like the only way that I am ever going to get my business to move on is if some rich dude or dudette decides to become my patron as such and I dont see that happening anytime in my life time.
so I just plug along with my little adana, my engraving tools and my lino.

here is a new lino completed this week for a lovely girl named Christie from Victoria, she wanted some thankyou cards for her wedding and she loved the font I had carved out for my LOVE greeting cards.I will print these when my Back recovers, I hope it happens soon as I have another two market in the next couple of weeks and business cards to print and major restocking to get done aaaaaaagh I need my Platen !!

My Latest type Aquistion

I love type so much !
This is my lasted purchase of type
I love it! so simple and clear to read and a favourite of Libbies from
Vintage Fur Couturiere
I print her Business cards with this font on post consumer recycled card and she has told me that she has had countless enquires about her cards and where she got them from, I'd have to say that Libbie would have to be one of my most vocal supporters and I adore her for it .

Ruby Victoria letterpress's 1st Salamanca market

An extremely small section of Salamanca Market

Ruby Victoria letterpress's stall at Salamanca Market

Ruby and Allan having hot chocolate and a snuggle

Well our 1st stall at the world famous Salamanca markets on Saturday was cold but wonderful
I have to admit I was more than just a little bit nervous on the morning of the big day as I had no idea whether we could get the car in to unpack or if we were going to face helpful or unhelpful stall holders that are more experienced but I didnt have any cause for alarm it turned out to be relatively easy to get the car in and unpack and out again and the fellow stall holder ended up being talkative and extremely helpful when it came to bolting the gazebo down to the ground, didnt want a repeat performance of the barn market incident.
It was a wonderful day! lots of new and familiar market people to meet and talk a lovely out door setting and just a great day I had a couple of visits from some of my regular handmade market friends ,thanks Kate for the Loo break! and I even saw and had a talk to my ceramics tutor from when I was doing my arts studies way back when !
She was thrilled to see that I was still pluggin along with my printing and actually making some kind of income from it and she took a fist full of my flyers to take back to all my past teachers to show them, funny I know .
She is organising a group of people to come down to hobart to visit artists studios to talk about their businesses and so the student can talk to real life practicing artists that make an income from their arts practice they will be coming to visit me here in Blackmans Bay
I am really pleased that she asked me as I remember doing this very same tour when I was studying and found it all very inspiring and I guess dreamed of being a real artist myself ,having a workspace where people would visit to see what I do so I guess this mean I am a real artist now who would have thunk !!

This weekends Market / events rundown

The Niche Market Launceston

We Made it back alive but very very tired from our very hectic weekend of Markets
Ruby and I did the big drive up to my mothers place in Railton on Thursday so that I wouldn't have quite so far to travel to get to The Niche Market in Launceston the next day & Saturday.

Niche was fantastic, beautiful venue with a lovely views, lots of space for everyone to stretch out & show their beautiful wares .
There was a steady stream of eager customers both day & all in all it was a very satisfying couple of days & it was lovely catching up with some Northern Market stall holders that I hadn't seen for a while Hi ISIS !It was a long drive home on Saturday night, only to sleep & do it all again on Sunday at Morrilla Vineyard for the Make A Wish Foundations What women want shopping experience. Our stall at What women Want, Make A Wish Foundation

this event wasn't quiet as fruitful as Niche for us but it was still a lovely event with a fashion show, high Tea, loads of giveaways & I did get to meet the lovely Jackie of Puddleduck Vineyard & I am thrilled to say that we will be working together on some letterpress cards & tags for their gift shop check their site out here www.puddleduckvineyard.com.au
