Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking

Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing

The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine

I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

Today in the badalassi household - My Creative space

All the essential elements for a productive and happy printmaker.
A big cup of tea, ipod plugged in to stereo and turned up loud to irritate the neighbours, lots of sharp tools and a beautiful view to look out upon when I go slightly cross eyed from concentration and carving out ridiculously detailed drawings

I hope you are all having a happy and productive day too

brand new toy for me

I am really excited ! I bought myself a medium format camera off etsy today
I have been wanting to own one of these since I was in the middle of studying my art diploma way back when I was just 17.

Not only did I major in Printmaking but I was also doing a major in Photography and one of these cameras at the time was so far out of reach for me that I just resigned myself to never owning one.

According to the listing this camera might not be even it working order but I thought for the price it was worth the risk and even if it doesn't work it is still a beautiful object that I will never get tired of looking at.
If the camera does happen to be in working order I intent go back to my love of producing black and white portraits.

Exciting times ahead
