Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking

Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing

The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine

I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

It has been almost a week since my last post !

Wow I can't believe it has nearly been over a week since I last posted on here, It has been a seriously busy week.
the Barn market was fabulous last Saturday so many happy customer and stall holder ,Miriam & Helen did a fantastic job of the whole thing and even though it rained some of the time, that didn't stop people from coming in and having a shop.

Sunday was the Woodbridge Market I really like this market it has a real down to earth charm about it and a nice mix of people and things to look at ranging from fresh produce, lead lighting, paper mache creations ,gem stops, fudges, knitted item and printing of course , you can also sit for a portrait for less that $30 now that is pretty fantastic .
Unfortunately there are only two more markets at Woodbridge this season and then it will be back again in spring I think .

During this week has seen me doing custom orders, printing, drawing new designs, writing more applications and profiles and too much paper work at the computer.

But I have also received a few wonderful things in the mail link my new knight in shining armour letterpress block which I hope prints well enough for me to use for little party invitations for boy to take to mathildas market next month and my beautiful string arrived from the states drool I love string.
I have been doing a bit of printing as well some new tags in some lovely bright happy colours and reprinting some of my teacups in different colours I think the teacups look beautiful in this red, I also printed the other 3 stack of cups in turquoise and looks stunning, better than the 2 cup print I am not sure why might just be the pattern I hope you enjoy the new photo anyway .

yesterday I went to visit a lady that I had met at the Woodbridge market, she had liked my work and had asked me to consider illustrating her children s book for her.
We had a lovely morning drinking tea and chatting and I think the partnership on this lovely story is going to work out very well , Nansy is also a fabulous painter and is a beautiful person and I feel blessed that she found me at the market and felt that she could ask me to work on this project with her, It is going to be interesting what we come up with so stay tuned.
So much other stuff to report but my eye are tired so maybe later
Keep well everyone

The First Barn Market this weekend !

The First Barn Market is happening this Saturday 13th February at the Rosny Barn right between the Rosny Golf Course and the Eastlands shopping centre, they really couldn't have picked a better venue to hold their Market. location, location, location!

There is a huge glow of excitement around this new market ,the building where the stalls will be and the location is just fantastic.
I am sure I am not the only one thinking that with "The Barn" being situated so close to the Eastlands shopping centre, that this will bring a whole new crowd of people in, to realise the allure of Handmade.......BRING IT OOOON!!!
I am really looking forward to this market and I hope to meet some new people and look at the new stalls I haven't seen before, lets just hope the rain stays away and we all have a fantastic first market.

Robin Street Market

Robin Street Market is a new online market place created by Sharon and David in Melbourne,Australia.
their markets place is about travelling, buying unique and handmade goodies.
You can browse the market stalls which are filled with handmade and unique items from around the world, find out about the people who created them, and also read tales about their experiences in faraway places. And every now and then you get to read a bit about food they enjoyed as well!

I am very proud to announce that ruby Victoria letterpress and printmaking can be found at Robin Street Markets online store along with many other creative people that Sharon & David have found on their travels around the world and have bought to you via their online market place.

I love Lapwing press

I am so excited my package from lapwing press in the Uk arrived this morning but not only did they send me my beautiful print they also threw in some of their letterpress and handcarved greeting cards and some lovely little moo business cards I love them so much I wanted to share them with EVERYONE!

John and Sarah are are the talented pair behind the lapwing name and they create the most stunning wood engravings, linocuts and hand bound books.
I have been following their progress into letterpress on flickr and then on etsy and as soon as I saw the tea wood engraving I couldn't wait any longer to purchase a print from these talented folks.
