Welcome to Ruby Victoria Letterpress & printmaking

Here you will find photos of all my original hand carved linocut prints and letterpress printing.
A commercial printer by trade a printmaker by choice.
I specialize in original handcarved lino block prints with a bit of letterpress thrown in for good measure.
All printed on antique printing machines with that unmistakable bite into the paper that you can only get with letterpress printing

The work that I do is not created on a computer everything is hand drawn then hand carved out of lino then printed one impression at a time on my tabletop letterpress machine

I do not use polymer which limits me somewhat in regards to type but I love to use traditional methods in my printing that involve handset type and hand carved designs and I think this is what make my work totally Original and Unique to what other people are doing right now and it also meaning everything I make is an original work of art
I love what I do and love to share it with others that are interested

home again home again

Wow
I never though I would be so happy to be home back in Tassie as you might already know we have just sent 2 weeks in Sydney with Allans Family for Christmas and even thought it wasn't overly hot it was hot enough to make the kids cranky and Allan and I counting down the days till we were back in a much cooler climate where if we get cold we can just rug up and it is never that hot it is causing craziness in the kids.
Ruby and mousie snuggled up in Nonas 30 year old crochet rug she gave me

To make our home coming all the more sweet we came home to a sweet little welcome home flower arrangement near our front door from out little neighbor and friend of rubies Alice. it just had me all the more happier to be home after a long two weeks of a place that neither Allan I feel comfortable or at home in, so it was really nice to know that we had been missed

Alices little welcome home to us at out front door

Alice and Ruby back to where they left off 2 weeks ago :)

The other great think was the mail that was waiting for me when I got home I was thrilled to get a card and a new car from my friends and fellow printmakers Joanne and Dennis, it is actually a letterpress print of one of dennis's printers blocks, I will have to find a little frame for it is it just divine.

I also got not one but two copy's if Isis's long awaited and much anticipated Tea zine in which I have my red teacup stack linocut featured and a little question and answer with me
there was even a little gift of a badge and a sample from Jolie de tea. You can purchase a copy of the zine from here www.etsy.com/shop/isis

My signed copy of Handmade living arrived as well I have decided to give a copy of the book away soon but I haven't worked out the details just yet I will keep you all posted on this

I hope you all have had a wonderful festive season and wish you all the best for the new year and I look forward to hearing form you all in the coming year

  1. Nona's rug and welcome home flowers. It's the simple things isn't it?
